It's hard to believe that it's been a year since our 2nd company retreat.

A lot has changed since then;  our team and client base has changed and grown, our expertise in the online accounting space has widened and we've matured as a company and as individuals in our roles.  We have a long way to go in all respects, but there were a lot of positives over the past year.

As mentioned in last year's blog post, we are an online accounting firm operating across Canada.  We have team members working from their homes out of various provinces in Canada.  Similarly, our clients are also from across the country.

Having a remote team allows us to find talent across Canada.  We're able to cast a wider net for awesome people to work with.  Working with people from across the country also provides different perspectives and experiences.  It all comes out over a few drinks when hanging out at these retreats :)

Annual retreats allow us to strengthen our relationships.  We do chat with one another quite often through video chat and messaging, but nothing allows you to build bonds like meeting and hanging out in person can.  The retreat also allows us to reflect on previous year’s accomplishments and goals that may/may not have been achieved.

And lastly, our annual retreats allow us to work together and brainstorm new ideas: ideas that will shape the next year and beyond.  Everything from improving our online bookkeeping process and corporate tax process to client onboarding and apps we use on a day-to-day basis.

Below are some pictures from our 2018 retreat at the Kingbridge Conference Centre.
